Frequently asked questions

What exactly is Sourclip?

Sourclip is a Chrome extension that extends Google NotebookLM with one-click capture, notebook organization, a reusable prompt library, and artifact export. It adds the workflow layer that NotebookLM doesn't have built-in.

What content types can Sourclip capture to NotebookLM?

Sourclip captures web pages, YouTube videos (individual videos, playlists, channels, and search results), PDFs (from web URLs or local Chrome tabs), Reddit posts, X (Twitter) posts, and full AI chat conversations from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek, and more. You can also right-click any text selection on any page to send just that excerpt.

Do I need a NotebookLM account to use Sourclip?

Yes. Sourclip works with your existing Google NotebookLM account. You choose which notebook receives each capture directly from the extension popup.

Is Sourclip free to use?

Yes. Sourclip has a free plan that includes 10 captures/day, 10 exports/day, AI chat capture, YouTube capture, workspace dashboard, folders, 3 saved prompts, and capture history. No credit card required. Pro unlocks unlimited captures, exports, cloud sync, unlimited prompts, and custom branding at $12/year.

Can Sourclip export NotebookLM artifacts like flashcards and audio?

Yes. Sourclip exports all AI-generated artifacts from NotebookLM that Google doesn't let you download natively: notes, study guides, FAQs, briefings, timelines (Markdown), flashcards and quizzes (interactive HTML), Audio Overviews (mp3/m4a), Videos (mp4), Slides (PDF), and more.

Is my research data private with Sourclip?

Yes. All capture processing runs locally in your browser. Sourclip servers never receive, store, or process your research content. Free users store workspace data locally. Pro users get cloud sync for folders, prompts, and settings only.

Why does Sourclip ask for browser permissions?

Sourclip runs on top of NotebookLM and the pages you capture from, so Chrome needs permission for it to read the page you're on when you click capture, talk to your NotebookLM account, and store your workspace. Capture processing runs locally in your browser — Sourclip's servers don't receive or store the contents of the pages you capture. You can review the exact permissions on the Chrome Web Store listing and uninstall any time with one click.

What browsers does Sourclip support?

Sourclip works on Chrome and Chromium-based browsers including Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Arc. Firefox and Safari are not currently supported.

Does the Sourclip Lifetime plan include future updates?

Yes. The Lifetime plan is a one-time payment that includes all future updates and features at no additional cost.
