Sourclip is a Chrome extension that helps you save web content to Google NotebookLM. It captures clean text from webpages, YouTube transcripts, PDFs, Reddit posts, and AI chat conversations and sends them directly to your NotebookLM notebooks. We are committed to your privacy. This policy explains what data the extension touches and what we do with it.
Without an extension account: Extension data — your capture history, daily usage count, and settings — is stored exclusively in chrome.storage.local on your own device. It never leaves your browser. On the Sourclip website, we collect basic product analytics such as page views, referrers, campaign parameters, and CTA clicks so we can understand which pages and funnels are working.
With a free account: If you create a Sourclip account, we collect your email address and an encrypted password for authentication. We also store your daily usage count and the content of any custom saved prompts you create (up to 3) server-side. Account data is managed through Supabase, a third-party authentication and database service. We do not store your captured webpage content, browsing history, or notebook data on any server.
With a Pro account: Same as a free account, plus your notebook folder organization (which folders contain which notebooks) and unlimited custom prompts are synced to Supabase so they are available across devices.
When you click "Capture", the extension reads the text of the current page (running entirely in your browser), then sends that text directly to your open Google NotebookLM tab using NotebookLM's own authenticated session. No intermediate server is involved. The text goes from your browser to NotebookLM — nowhere else.
On YouTube, the extension adds "Save to NotebookLM" buttons to video, playlist, channel, and search pages. When you click these buttons, the extension extracts the video transcript and sends it to your chosen NotebookLM notebook.
On AI chat platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, Kimi, DeepSeek, OpenEvidence, and Genspark) and Reddit, the extension adds a "Save to NotebookLM" button to help you capture conversations and posts.
The extension can also export NotebookLM-generated content — such as study guides, FAQs, and briefing docs — directly to your device as Markdown, HTML, PDF, or ZIP files. This processing happens entirely in your browser; exported files are saved directly to your device and are not transmitted to any Sourclip server.
The extension interacts with Google NotebookLM (notebooklm.google.com) at your explicit direction. Your use of NotebookLM is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We have no relationship with Google and no access to your NotebookLM data.
Sourclip uses PostHog as its primary website and product analytics platform. PostHog helps us measure anonymous and signed-in website behavior, including page views, sessions, referrers, UTM parameters, CTA clicks, signups, checkout events, device/browser metadata, and approximate country when PostHog can infer it. PostHog does not receive captured webpage content or NotebookLM notebook data from the extension.
Account authentication and data storage for signed-in users is handled by Supabase, a third-party authentication and database service. Supabase's privacy practices are governed by their Privacy Policy. We store your email address, encrypted password, daily usage count, custom saved prompts, and (for Pro accounts) notebook folder organization with Supabase. We do not store your captured webpage content with Supabase.
Capture history is stored locally and automatically limited to the last 20 entries. You can clear it at any time by removing the extension or clearing Chrome's extension storage. Pro account data can be deleted by contacting us at the email address below.
This extension is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
